Home and Community Based Services are designed to give individuals with physical disabilities and the elderly rights to a care setting of their choice and qualified service providers to deliver this care.  The Independent Living Center of Northeast Kansas provides services under  these HCBS waivers:

Physical Disabilities Waiver (PD): Serves individuals 16-64 years of age with physical disabilities.  Under this waiver, our Center will provide initial assessments, plans of care, and handle Medicaid billing.

Frail Elderly Waiver (FE):  Serves individuals 65 and older who need assistance with daily activities.  Once an assessment is completed by an Area Agency on Aging Case Manager, our Center handles Medicaid Payroll Services  billing for Attendant Services.

Eligibility
for services under HCBS programs is based on such things as financial status, inability to perform daily activities, and assessment results.

Consumers can hire relatives, friends or neighbors as their caregivers.  Federal regulations restrict spouses and parents of minor children from being caregivers.
